The sections are numbered from 1 to 36, (half red and half black, half odd and half even) plus a green section marked 0. Roulette translated literally means "small wheel" and is one of the oldest casino games played today. Your odds of winning a one-number bet are 37 to 1 (37 ways to lose, 1 way to win) Once the bets are placed on the table, a small ball is released on to the spinning Roulette wheel, in the opposite direction to the spin. Before you can place your bet on a roulette table you first have to get special roulette chips from the dealer at the table. It is played in virtually every gambling house in North and South America and in Europe, where it is even more popular. Roulette is somewhat unique amongst modern table games in that it employs a mechanical device as the key element of the game. The marked area is called the game layout, and you may place bets on any particular number, any 4 adjacent numbers, a column or a dozens bet. The game of Roulette starts after the players have made most of their bets by placing them on the numbered layout. American wheels have two green sections marked 00. One of the thing you should know about roulette is how the table minimum works. Each player is assigned different color of chip, allowing the dealer differentiate bets and match them to the right players. The French roulette wheel is divided into 37 slots, numbered 1 through 36, plus 0, there is no 00. In a casino, the person who spins the wheel is called a “croupier. When all bets are placed, the croupier spins the wheel and a ball bounces from slot to slot until finally coming to rest in one of them. The ball stops in one of the numbered pockets of the Roulette wheel. All roulette players place their bets. The Roulette wheel has numbered pockets ranging from 00 to 36. Players are allowed to continue placng their bets during the spin until the dealer says "No more bets". Here's another way to look at it: Let's say you bet $10 on every number one bet on each of the 38 spots. The dealer spins the wheel in one direction and the small ball in the opposite one. The croupier spins the wheel, which has 38 slots, numbered from 1 to 36 with the additional slots 0 and 00. The zero and double zero numbers are in green and on opposite sides of the wheel, the colors and odd/even numbers alternate, and the numbers themselves are randomly distributed. Roulette is played on a table featuring a betting area and the roulette wheel. If Red has come up 20 times in a row, that doesn't mean Black is more likely to come up on the next spin. You usually find most tables in Las Vegas with a minimum roulette bet of $1 - $3. After the roulette wheel stops the dealer will then mark the winning number on the betting area and the bets are paid accordingly. Roulette players make bets by placing chips in various locations on the table. Outside bet options include betting red, black, even, odd, low, high or selected thirds of numbers.   The only difference is that the American version has a single zero and a double zero versus the French version with just a single zero. The green slots (zero) in roulette are where casinos make their money. It is played in virtually every gambling house in North and South America and in Europe, where it is even more popular. There are two types of Bets in Roulette.  You usually find most tables in Las Vegas with a minimum bet of $1 - $3. - Players make bets by placing chips in various locations on the table. Bets outside this grid, like for example a bet on RED, would be an outside bet. Roulette is a unique table game as it has a mechanical device as the main element of the game. a.

Some casinos have special rules.
In Prison/En prison
In case the ball stops at zero slot, the croupier will not collect red/black, odd/even and first half/last half bets, they will stay on the table - in other words they are in prison. The players can win their original bet back during the next spin;if their bet wins they get their original bets back without additional gain. If it's zero again the bets remain in prison one more time and so on. In prison rule is a considerable advantage for players because the house edge is reduced to 1. 35 percent.
La Partage
In case the ball stops at zero slot, the croupier will not fully collect red/black, odd/even and first half/last half bets. Only half of the players’ bets will be collected - the rest will be returned to the players. As well as the In Prison rule, the La Partage rule also reduces the casinos edge to only 1. 35 percent.
