On an American wheel, there are 38 spots numbers 1-36, plus 0 and 00. The ball will lose speed and eventually stop in one of the numbered pockets in the Roulette wheel. In American roulette the addition of the 00 section greatly increases the odds in favor of the house. If the dreaded 00 is spun, the House keeps all the bets. Casino players can bet on one, two, three, four or six numbers; or they can choose to bet red or black; high or low; odd or even. The wheel is divided into 38 (American) or 37 (European) sections, each of which has walls to hold a small ball where it lands after the wheel is spun. Outside bet options include betting red, black, even, odd, low, high or selected thirds of numbers. The outcome of a game of Roulette is determined by where the ball stops on the Roulette wheel. in 332 pages they didn't see fit to mention the low edge in Atlantic City, so I didn't know about it. If the roulette ball lands in the 0 slot, the game ends and all players receive half their original bets back. The odds on roulette are at least five times worse than baccarat, blackjack, or craps, but it's played much slower so your expected loss is about the same. The French roulette wheel is divided into 37 slots, numbered 1 through 36, plus 0 There is no 00. On both wheels, you may think that there is no rhyme or reason as to how the numbers are arranged, but there is; the numbers are arranged this way so that the odds of landing on high, odd, low or even numbers are evenly distributed. Roulette is not as popular in United States casinos as it is in Europe. When you get your roulette chips they will not be marked with a denomination, you choose it, and all of the chips will reflect that worth - the dealer keeps track of that by associating the amount and color with a 'lammer') You should remember to exchange the colored non-value Roulette chips for valued gaming chips prior to leaving a particular Roulette table. Traditionally roulette has been played in regular offline casinos. You should give some indication to the dealer as to what value of chip denomination you prefer to be provided with. Once the ball has found its slot, the dealer will call out the winning number and place a marker on that number's spot on the layout. A European roulette wheel has the numbers 1-36, plus a slot for zero. These are referred to as INSIDE or OUTSIDE bets. The dealer spins the wheel in one direction and the small ball in the opposite one. On even money bets when 0 comes up, instead of losing right away, your bet is "imprisoned" and rides again for the next spin.
