When you play the game of Roulette you don't compete with other players. You play against the dealer. 1 to 8 players can play the game at the same time. Each player buys in and each player gets colored chips. All players have chips of different color. In the case of winning a spin the player cashes his color chips in for cash chips of a certain value.
The "En Prison" rule can be applied when you make an even money bet and the spinning ball stops on the zero. In this case you can either use your bet for another spin or you can take it. You put your bet "in prison" if you decide to leave it for the next spin. The 'La Partage' rule. When you place an outside even money bet and the ball lands on zero, you lose half your bet and you are not able to leave the remainder in prison, or out for another spin.

The ball will lose speed and
eventually stop in one of the numbered pockets in the Roulette wheel. If the roulette
ball lands in the 0 slot, the game ends and all players receive half their
original bets back. American and European roulettes have a wheel that is divided into numerous slots. Roulette is a game of pure chance and each single spin is unrelated to any previous spins. When the roulette ball comes to rest in one of the slots, the dealer will call out
the winning number and settle all bets. In a casino, the person who spins the wheel is called a croupier. There are 2 types of roulette, American and French (aka European roulette) The wheel consists
38 compartments with numbers from 1 to 36, which are colored black and red, and
two green compartments with 0 and 00. The dealer spins a small ball in the opposite direction of the spinning roulette wheel. Roulette translated literally means "small wheel" and is one of the oldest casino games played today. Playing roulette you should give some indication to the dealer as to what value of chip denomination you prefer to be
provided with. I found out about it when an Atlantic City dealer took only one of my two chips on a losing bet and I had to ask why. Each Player has a different colored set of non-value Roulette chips, determined by his/her purchase. Wait til the
dealer says "place your bets" before putting any roulette chips down for the next round. The roulette ball falls into one of the wheel's numbered compartments which determines the winning number. Before you get confused,
standard American roulette rules have the table use different chips than other table games at the same casino. The croupier spins the wheel, which has 38 slots, numbered from 1 to 36 with the additional slots 0 and 00. Bets can be placed again for the next spin. Roulette does not move at a quick pace, it is for a more relaxed crowd than you are likely to find at the
craps table. If black has just come up ten times in a row, your odds haven't changed, black and red are equally likely on the next spin. -
There are 2 types of roulette, American and French (a. Each player is assigned different color of chip,
allowing the dealer differentiate bets and match them to the right players. Numbers 1-18 are considered
the lows; numbers 19-36 are the highs. On both
wheels, you may think that there is no rhyme or reason as to how the numbers are
arranged, but there is; the numbers are arranged this way so that the odds of
landing on high, odd, low or even numbers are evenly distributed. The zero and
double zero numbers are in green and on opposite sides of the wheel, the colors
and odd/even numbers alternate, and the numbers themselves are randomly
distributed. Single numbers pay the highest, while either/or bets are lowest. Roulette is the most classic casino game of all. The American roulette is divided in to 38 slots,
numbered 1 through 36, plus 0 and 00. Roulette does not move at a quick pace, it is
for a more relaxed crowd than you are likely to find at the craps table. Roulette is a banking game: all bets are placed against the house. If you win the second spin, your bet is "released from prison" and you get it back. The Roulette wheels in Europe are numbered 1-36, and have a green zero section. American wheels have two green sections marked 00. If the dreaded 00 is spun, the House keeps all the bets. The number
the ball stops on is the winning number. Most casinos have 00 on their roulette wheels to increase the odds to their advantage (American Roulette) The
chips are worthless at the other tables in the same casino, so do not bother
trying to stack them under your blackjack chips or anything foolish like that. However, if the dreaded 00 is spun, the House (the casino)
keeps all the bets.
