The whole thing weighs upwards of a hundred pounds, at nearly 3 feet in diameter. The numbers 1 through 36 are divided evenly among red and black "pockets". The ball will land in one of the pockets. In addition to the 36 red and black pockets, there are either 1 or 2 green pockets, containing the number zero and double zero (00) on the roulette wheel. The numbers are not distributed in a random fashion. A balance between red and black, high and low, and odd and even is sought by the wheel makers. For every number on the wheel, directly across from it is the next highest even number. Black and red alternate, pairs of even numbers alternate with pairs of odd numbers (with 0 and 00 exceptions). This roulette wheel design is standard within the industry. The wheel is spinned by the dealer in the counterclockwise direction and then he releases a plastic ball along the top of the wheel’s cavity. As the wheel loses velocity the ball is pulled down off of the track and bounces around until it settles into a pocket. There are a million small buffers and bumps to ensure that the ball is tossed around a good bit randomly before it finds a home.

The game of Roulette starts after the players have made most of their bets by
placing them on the numbered layout. A player may bet on an entire row, with a return of 11:1, by placing one or more chips over the edge of the first number in the row, or on two rows at 5:1. Roulette is somewhat unique amongst modern table games in that it
employs a mechanical device as the key element of the game. The United States adopted their own version of roulette, but the French version is still played time to time in Las Vegas. The main goal of the Roulette is to bet on the
slot where the roulette ball falls. After all payoffs have been made, the Dealer will announce "Place your
bets". The difference between the true odds and what they actually pay you is 2/38, or 5.26%. The marked area of Roulette is called the game layout, and you may place bets on any particular number, any
4 adjacent numbers, a column or a dozen bet. Losing bets are collected and winning bets are paid. The roulette dealer will exchange your chips for regular chips when you
are done playing. Winning bets are determined by the numbered slot in which the ball comes to rest. The zero and double zero numbers are in green and on opposite sides of the wheel, the colors
and odd/even numbers alternate, and the numbers themselves are randomly distributed. A European roulette wheel has the numbers 1-36, plus a slot for zero. The Roulette wheel layout used in Europe and in America generally not the same. The winning number is marked
by the Dealer. One of the thing you should know is how the
table minimum works. (We assume it's offered at the Paris casino, because Roulette comes from France, after all. The wheel determines the outcome of
a game of Roulette. In Roulette the bets
are placed on an area of the table marked with separate boxes, with each box
containing individual numbers. To make your money last longer try to find a single 0 wheel, and make only one bet per round regardless of what kind of wheel you find. In American roulette the addition of the 00 section greatly increases the odds in favor of the house. It is played in virtually every gambling
house in North and South America and in Europe, where it is even more popular. Also, understand that your odds are the same on every spin. After the roulette wheel stops the dealer will then mark the winning number on the betting area and the bets are paid accordingly. Roulette does not move at a quick pace, it is for a more relaxed crowd than you are likely to find at the
craps table. In Roulette the bets are placed on an area of the
table marked with separate boxes containing individual numbers. The dealer spins the wheel in one direction
and the small ball in the opposite one. (If you don't believe me start flipping a coin and notice that after three heads, you're equally likely to get heads as tails on the next flip. Roulette is a unique table game as it has a mechanical device as the
main element of the game. The main goal of the roulette is to bet on the slot where the roulette ball falls. Losing roulette bets are collected and winning bets are paid. Most roulette wheels have a 0 and a 00, and have a 5.3% house edge. After all bets are placed, the Dealer spins the wheel in one
direction and the ball in the opposite direction. The odds on roulette are at least five times worse than baccarat, blackjack, or craps, but it's played much slower so your expected loss is about the same. The Roulette wheels in America have a green zero and double zero, giving the American casinos the twice house edge. An American roulette wheel has an extra slot; 00. Bets can be placed again for the next spin.

In roulette everything depends on luck. Trying to keep the house edge to a minimum is almost all you can do from a strategic point of view. There are special rules in casinos which directly affect on the edge.
The 'surrender' option is the first strategy to know. This rule is applied to outside bets such as odd/even, red/black, and high/low. If the balls lands on the 0 or the 00 you only lose half your bet, rather than the whole betting. The house edge considerably depends on this;after all it is the 0 and 00 which account for the high house edge in the first place. Of course, the payoffs aren't as great for outside bets, but simply by finding a table with the ‘surrender' rule, you are improving your odds substantially.
Rather interesting point is the 0 and 00. It is better to look out for tables with only one 0 , or European tables. Primarily found in Europe, these tables offer a much more attractive house edge from the player's point of view. With a European table to play on you are reducing the house edge from 5. 26 percent to 2. 7 percent. Physically European roulette tables are found more often in Europe, but in the ‘online world’ gambling they are just a click away.
